                            SHEA McMeans, 32 years young

                            Picture
My name is Shea, I am 32 years old. I was raised in a very drug and alcohol addicted family and grew up thinking that was normal. I first started experimenting with drugs and alcohol as a teenager and just never stopped. I have been battling the roller coaster of addiction my whole life. I have hit so many rock bottoms and tried to get clean so many times. I tried 12 step programs and even spent $5,500 to go through a drug rehab program but could never stay clean for very long before I would relapse and repeat the vicious cycle over and over again. In December, 2008, I was arrested and sent to prison. While in prison I really thought about where I had gone wrong and I wanted to go somewhere safe when I got out. So I was accepted at the Sand Dollar Discovery House and it wasn't until I got here that I realized I've been missing a very vital ingredient in my recovery and that is a solid spiritual foundation. I can honestly say for the first time in my life that I am finding out who I really am and I am growing into the women I've always dreamed of being. The structure here is in a place so you can learn ti start functioning in life, in a healthy and positive way. This program is helping me build healthy relationships with my daughter and my family and keep them healthy. This program has been a wonderful blessing in my life and an amazing opportunity for me to change and grow. I thank God for what Albert and Naomi are teaching me and will be forever grateful.

                            Tracy Harvey, 39 years young

My name is Tracy Harvey. I'm 39 years old. Let me start by telling you I've had a hard life. My family was very dysfunctional. At the age of 14 I had my first child. I dropped out of school. By the age of 17 I had 3 children. My life was going pretty good then me and my children's father split up. My life started going down hill from there. I got back into doing drugs, then shortly after I went to prison. I lost my 3 children, I was hurt, confused and lonely. I started doing drugs even harder and much more. Besides the drugs, I was robbing people, breaking into houses, and selling drugs. I have been to prison 4 times; this time I've come to realize i want to have a clean and sober life style. Being here at Sand Dollar Discovery House is a wonderful and great opportunity for me. Here we learn to be sober and how to function without the use of drugs. We also learn about ourselves and others. We learn how to let go and let God. The experiences that I've encountered are awesome. I love being at the Sand Dollar Discovery House. This is a remarkable program if you're willing to change your life. The opportunity of being able to be here is great. I want to thank Naomi and Albert Potter for being who they are as caring individuals. I also want to thank the Sand Dollar Discovery House Program.

My name is Jasmine Sellers, I'm 25 years old. I was brought to Sand Dollar Discovery House by the Grace of God. I was a Meth addict for many years and did many things to get my next fix. I grew up in a family of active addicts. I then went to prison, but it wasn't until my second time down that God blessed me with a place to go where I could learn how to live my life as I'm meant to. I'm learning to live in peace, love, truth and joy. I've come to realize that living this way is far greater than any drug. I'm learning tools to get through day to day. With these tools I can become anything I put my mind to. God Bless.
