Job Training
Sand Dollar Discovery House operates a Thrift/Antique store to provide job development/training and funding for the S.D.D.H. Program.
The thrift store is also a therapeutic environment which provides the opportunity for the women to work on their work ethic issues. At our thrift store they are able to experience working in a comfortable environment with co-workers, employers, and the public in a way that helps to work on their independence and communication skills. It also helps to empower the women and build their self-esteem. The women become valuable employees and assets to the community.
Our thrift store is a unique store within itself. The store reflects their team work, personalities, and commitment to changing their lives.
We also have fund raisers at the different sporting venues through out the valley as a way to fund the program. This gives the women an opportunity to work in a high pace environment, providing the opportunity to use their life skills working and interacting with the public.
