DELLA DAVIS: Transitioned to Independent Living 2009. "My stay here I have discovered that I have to stay in the Word. I've always learned that staying focused is the key. My thing was I didn't know how to say NO, but I have really learned how to choose what to say no to. I'm still growing in every aspect of life. I don't think I know everything because there's always room for improvement, and I am open to it. God puts people in our lives for a reason. I really feel that the blessing of meeting you all is confirmation that no matter what I have been through there is still time to live my dreams. I thank you both from the bottom of my heart. This was and is a blessing for me. Therefore I will pay it forward, the positive, the loving, trust, patience, and peace. The most important thing I learned about myself is, it's never too late. Again thank you so much."
DEISY NARANJO: Transitioned to Independent Living 2010. "I have had a different hard life in that I am from Cuba and had to learn to live in America. My life led down a road of destruction that seemed to keep going. I did more years in prison that I would like to say. I ended up in Arizona because of warrants that I did not take care of. After doing time in California I was sent to Arizona for 4 years. I've discovered that we are all connected in this journey of life. It will take for me the to use the knowledge to react rationally and intelligently to life's situations. I am more sure of what I'm worth, I know I am capable of handling obstacles that may come my way. My choices will determine what comes in my life; good choices, good outcomes. I want to be a mother that can teach my little girl to be kind and loving to the world. I want her to feel safe and protected and know that I will always be there to love her. I want her to be proud of her mother. I want to be a person I like to be. When I leave Sand Dollar I will take with me the knowledge that I can live life without using drugs or criminal activity as a substitute when I'm in tough life situations. I will be very aware of the places I go and the people I surround myself with. My sobriety is to be protected and I will be responsible for my life. I cannot think of only myself. I have people who love me and who are depending on me to be there for them. I want to go to school and work caring for people. I want people to look at me and see a woman who gives of herself and loves God. I want to always be grateful that I have made the journey to here, this is the Great Love of God that has carried me always. I will take the Sand Dollar teaching and learning experiences with me. I want to continue to grow in life and in love of people. Naomi and Albert will be with me as I go on my next episode in life. I will remember them always. Thank You God.
