About Us
Sand Dollar Discovery House works in partnership with families and agencies such as: probation, parole, CPS departments and intense treatment facilities; to support the resident in achieving her goals for recovery and compliance with after care treatment and state agencies. Sand Dollar Discovery House has served women in the valley since May 2000. They provide a therapeutic community so residents have the opportunity to function as part of a safe house hold. Even though they are a smaller program, max 15 residents, the residents get more individualized care and an opportunity to uncover the personal issues that are the cause
OUR GOAL:
Is to provide a therapeutic environment that offers a Cognitive Behavioral Treatment to help with recovery from Alcohol, Substance Abuse, Domestic Violence and Mental Health Conditions in which to heal the mind, body and spirit in order to achieve the goal of living a healthy life style, reunification with family and being a positive role model for their children.
Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) provides life skills that target the self-esteem and other behavioral conditions that are the underlying problem in their recovery. Recovery is not an easy process. At Sand Dollar our goal is to provide a safe, drug free environment for women to achieve their self discovery and/or recovery.
OUR OBJECTIVES:
The Legend of the Sand Dollar: It is said that Christ left the sand dollar as a symbol to help the evangelists teach the faith. The five holes commemorate the five wounds or Christ, while at the center on one side blooms the Easter Lily, and at the lily's heart, the star if Bethlehem. The Christmas poinsettia us etched on the other side, a reminder of Christ's birth. According to this legend, if you break the center five white doves will be released to spread goodwill and peace.
